Bullet Train Boondoggle

You can’t blame this one on the Obama stimulus.

The voters of California approved the construction of a “bullet train” on their 2008 ballot.  The initial estimate: $43 billion.

Now?

Three years ago, voters were sold a project that was gonna cost $43 billion, which now costs $66 billion in 2010 dollars, but the actual cost is gonna be $98.5 billion…

That’s $98.5 billion for a train that’s expected to be completed in 2033.  (Of course, that number has more than doubled in just three years.  Care to venture how much it might cost if it is ever actually completed?)
